Lars Dan, a graduate of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, is celebrated for his physically intense paintings. His technique involves thick layers of oil paint, pulled and dragged across the surface in sweeping, visceral strokes.
The palette ranges from dark, earthy browns to bright, expressive colors like orange, purple, and turquoise.
Recently, Dan has also explored ceramics and sculpture.
His clay vessels appear raw beneath gestural brushwork, while his sculptures evoke nature—organic shapes glazed in soft, matte or shiny finishes.
Represented in major Danish collections such as Louisiana and the National Gallery, Dan’s work straddles the line between the timeless and the primal, where material and movement become inseparable.
